December Sunday

The more I ride with the Norge, the more I like it. 8°C today at sunset and I was still comfortaby wearing my vented summer gloves. Heated grips and real wind protection make a big difference.

Couple of shots from today:

I just returned from my dealer who has both the red Norge and red Breva on the floor. The color is identical.

""Bike looks great... but some reviews indicate that there's a lot of vibration in the handle bars at 70 MPH plus--makes a long ride uncomfortable? And that the engine gives off a huge amount of heat--cooks your shins? And that that seat is too soft for a long ride?"

No vibration at high speed, except the windshield. The heat has not been an issue, as I have been riding in the cold. Yet, it does not seem to get hot enough to cook the shins, and my shins are proteected by the fairing skins.

I'll see this summer

A red Norge is available at branchville motors in CT.

Norge 1200 just came to the US. I picked one up on December 26th. It is a great ride, no doubt. It has the torque and drive of my older Bassa, but it performs better and is more comfortable too.

One issue, the electric windshield mechanism causes a slightly annoying vibration when riding. I wish there was a cure for that.

Need feedback from any Norge owners:

Comments please...

Thanks.

Pexi replies:
Vibration is not an issue for me - there are some vibes when accelerating, but at steady speed the bike is comfortable.
Heat might be an issue at high temperatures - I'll know better next summer. Anyway, it's a common problem with full faired touring bikes, I think.
Too soft seat may be a question of taste, but I really wonder if the person who claims that has really done any serious miles on the bike. The seat is good.

What I mis on the site is information about Pexi himself. So, on occasition please introduce yourself.

Pexi;

I do hope you still got nice weather and can find time to celebrate x-mas on your new two wheels.

Pexi,

I arranged to pick up my silver Norge next Tuesday. While I was there I spoke to the owner and mechanic (Josh) about the oil checking procedure. Here's an alternative way to check the oil without having to remove anything!!! There is a curved fairing piece just inside the left side panel in which the mechanic removed a very small amount of material in a subtle arc to allow the dipstick to be removed from between the fairing pieces. He used a pair of double pivoting needle nose pliars to reach in and grasp the dipstick, unscrew it and withdraw it. If he hadn't shown me where he'd removed a bit of the fairing, I wouldn't have noticed it. Very slick.

Pexi, email me. I have questions.

Carl Allison (first Norge owner in the USA)

Thanks for the suggestion, Pexi. I did check, and the part number for the red gas tank on the Breva 1100 is the same as for the red Norge.

I too have really appreciated seeing your pictures. I'm going to my dealer tomorrow. They should have two or three silver Norges ready for display and I should be able to look at a red Breva at the same time to decide which color I want. Initial response to the Norge seems very positive here in the US. Some dealers have sold their first allotments within a week and have ordered their second batch.

I've got the same feeling as you: the more I ride the Norge, the more I like it. I had mine in September (same colour). As I live in the Loire Valley the weather
got worse earlier but the protection and grips are just fine.
Been reading your blog for quite a while. Thanks for your photos and comments. I hope US riders will enjoy this bike too. Bye for now. Phil

Pexi,

Thanks for the update. The Norge's are just now arriving here in the US. A few members of Wildguzzi have taken delivery. I'm on the list for one this month. I've seen the silver Norge at the recent Cycle World show in Seattle, WA but no one I know has seen the red Norge in the flesh. Is the red Norge the same shade of red as the Breva1100? I'm trying to find the paint code for the red Norge to determine if I like the shade of red or not. It will be a longer wait for a red one. Thanks NWR

Pexi's reply: Hi NWRider, I think that any Guzzi dealer who has access to spare parts catalog should be able to help you - check if the spare part number of e.g. rear fender is the same for red Breva and Norge.
