Norge by night

Silver shines nicely under the moonlight and under the street lights:

Are you able to get your hand between the fairing and the engine so that you can grasp the top of the dipstick? If you can, Harper's sells a dipstic conversion that consists of a bushing that screws into the dipstic hole. The I.D. of the bushing is smooth and the replacement dipstic has an "o"ring that seals the dipstick to the bushing. The dipstick has an "open ring" that you can hook with the tip of a finger to pull it out. www.harpermotoguzzi.com under dipstick or, try: http://www.harpermotoguzzi.com/head.htm#With%20our%20E-Z%20Pull%20dip

I'm very interested since I've got a deposit on the second Norge my dealer gets in.

Norge oil level check? Ouch. From the pictures I've got (few), and no personal observation (very few people in the USA have ever seen a Norge, much less done anything mechanical to one), it would appear that the chin fairing is the major problem. The photos I have of Norges in the UK don't have the optional chin fairing so the lower part of the fairing looks to be only attached to the bike at two or maybe three locations. Removing those bolts should allow the fairing to be flexed away far enough to access the dip stick. The chin fairing looks like you'll have to remove the additional connector piece between the fairing and the chin fairing before undertaking the bolt and fairing "flex out" process. Kind of brain dead to make the dip stick so difficult to access. You might want to contact Haywards of Cambridge in the U.K. and talk to them. They're really good people. http://www.haywards.co.uk/
