Breva 1100 recall

Like some of you already know, there's a factory recall for a batch of Breva 1100s. I took mine to Aigle Motos this morning to get this issue tackled and I also told them to make a full service at the same time as my "10000 km tour Europe" approaches. The required spare parts should arrive by the end of this week. Let's see what happens.

Sunshine Café and oily pants

Look carefully, and you can see two Guzzis glimmering in the sunshine, in front of a Cannes café. Looks so peaceful and perfect doesn't it?

Yet, before getting there, I almost exploded the engine of the 1100. It goes like this:  I take the bikes out, wash and clean them, check the air pressures of the tires and check the oil levels, and then... I have a sudden brain fade and I forget to tighten the oil plug. Luckily my friend was riding behind me and noticed the smoke caused by the oil spraying all over the hot parts of the exhaust pipe. By the time, my left boot and lower parts of my riding pants had already got a deep treatment of engine oil. I almost had a stroke.

Luckily, only about one litre of engine oil had disappeared and obviously no real damage was caused. Except the damage to my self esteem.

Still alive

Yes, I'm still alive and if I'm lucky I'll be able to get my Breva out of the jail next weekend. She's been practically unaccessible because of the construction work in my backyard. There's been so much slippery mud and other construction garbage at my entrance (kind of steep hill), that when I once tried to ride the Breva out of the gate, it just resulted in rear wheel spinning, mud spraying everywhere and my pulse rising up to unhealthy levels.

Fortunately it's also been pretty cold here, so I have not really missed riding so much. Now the sun starts to be warm again and there will be a mandatory low period in the construction project, so I'm thinking of having a Breva outing next weekend. After that, it'll be a big mess again: Bobcats moving earth and macadam all around, then rebuilding the entrance with new layer of concrete etc... ok, I wont ruin this motorbike blog with all that...
